RATMで最初に聴いた曲だから、一番思い入れがあるのはこれかな。
イントロから分厚いリフになだれ込むところはかなりの衝撃を受けた。

稀代のグルーヴ＆リフ職人集団。
1stにしてほぼ完成している。
後の作品になっても、リフのアイデアが一切枯渇しないのがスゴイところだ。
RAGEはどのアルバムから聴き始めても構わない。

Tom Morelloの出し惜しみのないリフに、手堅いがリズムセクション、
うまく乗りこなしながらも、「And now you do what they told ya～～～」
としっかりインパクトを残すZack。ケミストリーがほとんど極限。

Rage Against the Machine
音楽って武器になるものなのかと初めて知りました。
1曲目からリスナーにぶちかましてくるという意味もありますが(実際「Bombtrack」の衝撃にぶっ飛ばされました)、反逆のメッセージやステートメントを掲げて本気で戦っているという意味での武器です。
RATMのアルバムは全部武器ですが、一番破壊力があるのは本作です。ジャケットからして生々しく、サウンドもボーカルもバンド名そのままの怒りと衝動に溢れています。これを名盤と認定せずに何とする。
